Huntsville American League Parent Code of Conduct Agreement
In exchange for my Child being allowed to participate in any Huntsville American League (hereinafter "HAL") event and as a parent, custodian, or legal guardian of said child as a spectator at any HAL event, I hereby consent and agree to abide by the following rules:
- I (and my guests) will promote the emotional and physical well-being of all HAL participants ahead of any personal desire to win.
- I will remember that my child plays Sports for his/her enjoyment, not mine.
- I (and my guests) will encourage good sportsmanship through words and actions and will demonstrate positive support for all players, coaches and officials at every practice, game, or other HAL event.
- I (and my guests) will provide support for coaches and officials working with HAL participants.
- I will demand that my child treat all players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or ability.
- I (and my guests) will treat all players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators with dignity through positive language, attitude, behavior, and mannerisms.
- I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
- I (and my guests) will respect and agree to protect the property and equipment of HAL.
- I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as booing and/or taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language or gestures.
- I (and my guests) will not encourage any behaviors or practices that would endanger the health and well-being of any HAL participant.
- I will teach my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
- I will teach my child that doing one's best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.
- I will never ridicule or yell at my child or any other HAL participant for making a mistake or losing a competition.
- I will respect the officials and their authority during games and will never question, discuss, or confront coaches during a HAL event, and will take time to speak with coaches/officials at an agreed upon time and place.
- I agree not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on HAL property or while watching any HAL event.
- I (and my guests) agree that being involved in any activity that would warrant the summoning of law enforcement officials will subject me to discipline by HAL.
- I (and my guests) agree that making physical contact with any coach, player, official or other HAL representative will result in expulsion from HAL.
- I agree that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary action which could include, but is not limited to the following:
- Verbal warning by any HAL official, board member, coach, and /or other HAL representative.
- Written warning.
- Parental game suspension with written documentation of incident kept on file with HAL.
- Game forfeit.
- Parental season suspension
